Referrals
When considering all the referrals we receive, our key concern is to understand if we are the right placement for the child, which means we are able to fully support them in our home that is conducive to meeting their specific needs, whilst allowing us to meet the needs of the existing children and their needs in our home.
A Positive Start is essential to ensure a smooth a transition into our care home. Where possible, discussions will be held with the child’s social worker and their parents if possible. previous care provider and schools, if appropriate, to gather views to plan a future.
Our home offers activity opportunities with a farm and countryside environment, which can give the opportunity for children to experience animals, providing significant mental, emotional, and physical health benefits. reduce stress and anxiety, while promoting companionship and boosting mood. Connection with animals is effective for autism, PTSD, and developmental disorders.
At the beginning of every placement, we carry out a thorough and comprehensive assessment of the child’s individual needs. This process begins once the child has joined us. It is designed to help us gain a clear and holistic understanding of their background, strengths, and areas where support is required. It allows us to identify the special therapeutic interventions from our therapist specialist and care strategies that supports a child’s development and wellbeing.
Referral Process
We admit referrals at Denbury Care through a referral process
Pre-admission Assessment
A Pre-admission and Risk assessment will be conducted by a Local Authority Social Services, along with a discussion by an Denbury Care internal panel of the home manager and responsible staff, about the suitability of each referral.
Social Services Referral
On a successful pre-admission process, Social Services will supply all the relevant information, to help us to provide the child/young person to our safe and secure accommodation.
On arrival to Denbury Care
On arrival a senior member of staff, will be appointed, they will spends time with the child or young person to explore our home, meet other children or young persons and to talk with them of theirs and the homes expectations.
A gradual induction
The child or young person will be monitored and spoken to, to make sure they are happy and feel secure in their new environment
Admissions
We accept admissions at Denbury Care as below
Aged between 5 to 17 Years
The child is aged between 5 to 17 years old on admittance as the Denbury Cares placement and policy conditions.
Placing Authority
Placings Local Authority’s Social Service’s own assessment has highlighted that the child may benefit from a therapeutic environment to work on individual targets and outcomes to secure a positive future.
Alternative Placement
The child is in need of a new or alternative placement. Where they are new to a Local Authorities Social Services or because the child or young person is not a good fit in their current placement.
Adolescent Requirements
The child is an adolescent, and it is felt he/she would benefit from a period of stability and individually tailored support with a view to independent living.
Assessment Provision
There is an indication that the child would benefit from being accommodated to enable an assessment to be carried out, and the outcomes of the assessment can be transferred to the young person.
